July is quickly coming to a close. It’s late at night, on a long weekend. I’ve left my blog post to the end of the day again. You think I would have learned my lesson by now. After a whole month of writing everyday I should know better. I am tempted to slam my computer closed and call it a night. But this is my last blog post of our July Blogging Challenge.
We made it past the halfway mark! I don’t know about you deer readers, but I wasn’t sure we would even make it this far. I know that’s not very positive thinking, but with the lull we had recently and my own personal track record for sticking with projects it was questionable at best. I am pleased to say, even on the days it wasn’t our post going up, we both managed to write something and a post has gone up every. damn. day. One day was down to the wire for me, and maybe the post went up at 12:01 AM, but that still counts in my books! It is amazing what you can accomplish when you decide to make something a priority and not accept any excuses. And you’ve gotta love it to stick with it. It’s been awhile, and I am glad to be reminded that, with a little help, I can stick with it.
This is not a blog post I am particularly thrilled about. I procrastinated my way through the day, doing everything I could possibly think of to not write a blog post. Clearly a smart choice when you are in the middle of a posting/writing everyday blogging challenge.
Day two of the July Blogging Challenge (a.k.a we both write every single day and a post goes up every. single. day.)…we both (begrudgingly) agreed the best way forward was to hold each other accountable and practice, practice, practice. A dollar short and a day late we started our July Blogging Challenge on July 2nd, cheering ourselves on and trying to stay pumped up with motivation to get through the month. I have set a timer to write for an hour that I have already checked 3 times and only 5 minutes has gone by (and I’ve just gone to make myself a piece of toast). I have lists of blog post ideas but nothing seems to be inspiring me to write. Hello writers block!
Welcome to July – and our July Blogging Challenge!
Same thing we say at the end of every month…Thank goodness that’s over! We watched June float by without much regard for it and again we felt the content creation for our blog fell by the wayside. It’s so easy to get caught up in your day to day life and before you know it its been a week since your last post. Not that we aren’t enjoying ourselves when we do focus on blogging but inspiration seems to constantly strike when we are away from our computers. This often means that ideas that seemed good earlier (in the shower, on the bus, walking to school…) fall victim to our inner critics. So for the month of July we’re tackling the problem head on!
